7 Prerequisites GPA 2.5 College math requirement Anatomy & Physiology I Medical Terminology Pass pre-entrance exam Background check Health Clearance TB test in January before clinicals 2-step twice yearly Hepatitis B vaccine & flu shot Immunization titers required Hep B, varicella, rubella, rubeola Physical by physician CPR American Heart Meet with counselor Go over transcript and coursework Meet with Health program coordinator 440.525.7117 Meet with Program Director Make appointment 440.525.7016 Need director’s signature on application Submit application when all prerequisites have been met All transcripts must be in file including HS

8 Additional Information Join the student organization and get your certification exam paid for Set up the college library in September for Surgical Technologist’s week September background check Participate in October fund- raising for treasury Community service project in November: Project Roscoe for animal shelters Study sessions Stability at the clinical site: No rotation between sites Open lab practice in well- stocked periop lab No-fault self assessment quizzes Group holiday parties Senior graduation tea party

9 Accountability Must maintain a “C” (150 point) average (200 point scale) in SURG-numbered courses to move to next level Five sequential semesters Begin clinicals in second semester (24-weeks) Failure in clinicals results in release from the program Attendance is closely monitored Blackboard platform for course documents and communication Academic honesty is observed No visitors in the lab Drug testing may be required at student’s expense
