Goals of the integration: Use the capacity of the railways in the metropolitan transport Improve the price/value ratio for the railway passengers (1 ticket instead of 2) Encourage the inhabitants of the metropolitan area to use public transport Improve the modal share of the public transport

(Rapid Urban Railway Ltd) using ZTM fare only Twofold approach to the railway integration

Birmingham, November 11th, 2011 Transport and Economic Growth – An International Perspective 9 independence from the other old-fashioned railway companies; common tariff with other transport means in the city (buses, trams, metro); decisions concerning vehicles and their equipment are taken by the City Hall; modern and safe trains thanks to a stable long-term contract with the city (in-house contract in line with 1370/2007); competition on the tracks. Birmingham, November 11th, 2011 Transport and Economic Growth – An International Perspective 13 Economic and social profits Fast growth of the railway ridership inside the City of Warsaw and in selected suburbs: Railway is the fastest mode to get to the city center for at least a 500k inhabitants; Railway is the fastest connection between the two river banks and the major railway stations. New projects: Railway link to the airport to be finished before EURO 2012; Adoption of freight tracks for passenger traffic.
