1 WEEK 8 The final Week! Pre-Placement Evaluation, Transfer Students, Progress reports and grades, Assistive Technology 7 Deadly Sins by Melinda Baird

2 Progress Reports Must be completed in TERA –Exceptions include Transition and ECO’s while TERA is being fixed Must include data! Cannot simply state “in progress” or “Completed”

3 Grades The student’s report card can not be altered to indicate grades are based on IEP, special education instruction, etc. Report card must look like all student’s report cards. IEP must indicate grades are altered or report card is based on IEP goals, etc. if graded other than typical peers. (Accommodations, LRE Statement, Written Notice)

5 Pre-Placement Evaluation Prior to a “change of Placement” a pre- placement evaluation must be completed –Change in services, resource room, etc. –Adding a 1:1 –Significant change of placement to other building, self-contained program, etc.

6 Pre-Placement Evaluation Eligibility and/or Annual IEP constitute a Pre-placement evaluation when considering change of placement to: –Resource room –Additional special education supports –Additional Services

7 Pre-Placement Evaluation A Comprehensive Pre-Placement Evaluation (PPE) is required for a “Significant” change of placement such as: –Change of building –Change to self-contained setting –Special or district programs, out of district programs –Addition of 1:1 support

8 Pre-Placement Evaluation A comprehensive PPE entails assembling a Portfolio of everything that has been tried. This includes: –The teams reason for referral for a change of placement –Rubric –Documentation of observations and recommendations, results of trying recommendations –Documentation of changes made to environment, accommodations, instruction, BIP, etc. –Review of data both quantitative and qualitative (graphed) –Team Review of LRE continuum of options based on IEP goals, services, accommodations and supports needed

9 When a student Transfers In to the Nampa School District If the student transfers from another Idaho district –Accept the IEP by completing an IEP amendment to accept, this includes a written notice. –Review the Eligibility –Contact Darlene and start a TERA file

10 When a student Transfers In to the Nampa School District When a student transfers into the district from out of state. –Implement the current IEP until Idaho Eligibility is determined –Accept the IEP by completing an IEP amendment to accept, this includes a written notice. –Complete a comprehensive review of the Eligibility to determine whether the current Eligibility document meets Idaho criteria
