1 Jan Haberle Research Institute of Crop Production Prague-Ruzyně, Czech Republic The effect of differences between observed and simulated soil temperature on simulated soil traits

2 Experience with CANDY Short-term simulation of soil moisture, temperature and the distribution of nitrogen uptake from a soil profile Long-term changes of soil organic matter in different crop systems and environments (Dr. J. Kubát and colleagues) Comparison of the effect of measures aimed at decreasing nitrate leaching (Candy and Epic – Dr. F.Doležal)

17 Conclusions The differences between observed and simulated soil temperature influenced only marginally Nmin, Corg and C_w.soluble in black fallow and had virtually no effect in crop rotations. Is it relevant information for calibration if a good agreement between simulated and observed soil traits is attained by a balanced positive and negative fluctuation of a simulated factor that serves as variable for other submodels.
