Opening Meditation Awaken to Wholeness & Your Full Potential

“A human being is part of… … the whole called by us “universe,” a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts, and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in all of its beauty… We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humankind is to survive.“ Albert Einstein
4
Progress? What new discoveries have you realized from yesterday? How was your assignment?
5
Transforming Emotions Understand how they work…
6
Gifts to Set You Free or Entrapment? Each emotion can be express from the true essence of the human spirit or from a distorted bias of our own self-centeredness. One will set you free, while the other will perpetually entrap you in a cycle of disharmony.
7
Emotional Interplay At Work “Understanding a process enables a person to gain control of that process or to gain freedom from being controlled by it. Thus analytic understanding of the atomic components of blind rage – what triggers it, how it directs itself, how it mobilizes mental, verbal, and physical energies and so on enables an habitually angry person to being to control his or her temper, perhaps finally to become free of its control.” – Dalai Lama
8
Emotional Transformation Equanimity can lead to apathy Joyfulness to elation Compassion to sentimentality Love to attachment Goal: Understand the complex interplay and process so you can maintain or restore your internal balance by generating emotions that are the appropriate antidote to a disturbing emotional state.
9
Emotional Empowerment Love counteracts apathy Equanimity will ground you from elation Joyfulness will melt your fixation on sentimentality Compassion will inhibit attachment
10
In Highly Charged Situations… Focus your attention on the physical sensations in your body and on your own emotional feelings, NOT on the situation or on those involved. Breathe, relax and open to find a creative solution or response to the challenge. Remember, you are the only one responsible for your mental, emotional and physical response to the situation.
11
Investigate What does this emotion (fear, sadness, anger, grief) really feel like in my body? Where do I feel it? How big is it? Where does it come from or go to? What are the thoughts and mental tape-loops associated with this emotional state? Simply investigating the feeling and nature of the emotional reaction will help it diminish so you can calm and clear your mind to respond from a state of centered strength and presence.
12
Befriend the Emotion Recognize and accept them as they are Befriend the confusion or negative emotions Develop flexibility of emotional response When all else fails, learn from your mistakes! Analyze the situation, clarify how you could improve it, vividly imagine how you would choose to respond differently in the future
13
The Role of Imagination Imagination is critical to your success in communicating with animals, because if you can’t imagine receiving communication impressions from an animal, you won’t be able to… not because it’s not possible, but because you’ve blocked yourself from recognizing and what you do receive.

Focus with Clear Intention Start with Simple Questions
24
Sample Questions: How are you doing? Is there anything you would like to tell me? What do you like to do? What do you like to eat? What games do you like to play? What do you most enjoy about your life? Do you like to be petted, stroked or touched? If so, how and where? If not, why not? How does it feel for me to touch you? This is not about being right. It is ALL about feeling, experiencing, expanding your senses. Trying to figure it out, over thinking, analyzing, and guessing is not it. If you find yourself doing this, draw back your energy, let yourself receive and allow the communication and connection to unfold in its own way and time.
25
Assignment Practice with a fellow Student Start by choosing an animal to work with… Then share what you got with their person and receive feedback The more you play, the more you learn and the faster you grow. Do it again with another animal!
26
Feel, Share, Get Feedback … feel and identify the animal’s specific emotions, use your senses and play, then be brave and courageous. Share your impressions with the animal’s person. …feel your own emotions, and see if you can separate out YOUR emotions from theirs, and make a note of that. …your partner’s job is to give you feedback on what you shared. Be kind, be open, be honest, be willing to learn and grow, and trust in the process.
27
What’s Your Golden Nugget What is one thing that you found most valuable, insightful or that you think will be most useful to you?
28
“Make it up as you go along. Hey, when you are trying to stay creative, too many rules can drive you loopy. Improvise. Let loose. Allow your mind to soar, your heart to leap, and your imagination to do back flips. Because, after all, you can’t amaze the world until you first surprise yourself.” - Kermit the Frog, from Before You Leap Quote
