Research Report Writing Presentation
How to write a complete research report Part 5: Conclusion Some notes about the contents of the conclusion of a research report: “The most important consideration in preparing any research report is the nature of the audience. The purpose is to communicate information, and therefore, the report should be prepared specifically for the readers of the report. Sometimes the format for the report will be defined for the researcher (e.g. a standard reporting format), while at other times, the researcher will have complete latitude regarding the structure of the report. “(Walonick, 2007, p.11). CHAPTER V - Conclusions and Recommendations Summary (of what you did and found) Discussion (explanation of findings - why do you think you found what you did?) Briefly summarize the research process that you completed. This is a mini summary of Chapter 3 Present a short and concise summary of the results that can be used to support an answer to the research questions. This is a brief summary of chapter 4. Recommendations You have been conducting research to see if a problem exists or not – to confirm if a hunch is true or not. As a result of your research you will be able to say if the hunch was right or not. Based on your findings you will be able to recommend Opportunities for further research – like trying to find out the reason for a phenomenon Suggestions for policy – such as changing operating procedures to improve performance.
