By the end of tonight you will be able to- Recognise the importance of clear communication. Recognise different forms of communications. Recognise when to use each form of communications.

Why Communicate To give instructions. To ask for help. To ensure that Young People and Adults know what is happening. To ensure that all people know of opportunities.

What Communications to use Face to Face Telephone Written Word Text Email

Face to Face No confusion. Many people can hear the message. Check all understand. Ensure Quiet background. Check all can hear you.

Telephone Quick and easy to organise. Convenient. Only 1 person can hear. Costs.

Written Word Clear and concise. Ensures all get the same message. Doesn’t rely on messages being passed on. Can give a large amount of information quickly.

Text Good for short messages/reminders. Don’t have to remember to check. Don’t forget those who don't have text facilities. Cost.

Email Immediate distribution. Clear and concise. Ensures all get the same message. Doesn’t rely on messages being passed on. Can give a large amount of information quickly. Don’t forget those who don't have email facilities.

Which form to use Most effective. What was used last time not necessarily the correct method. Learn to modify methods depending on target audience.

Communication Be clear and concise. Ensure all can hear the messages. Ensure all can receive messages. Be comfortable with method of communication. Ensure that it doesn't become impersonal.
