6.  Some males did have an education.  If the family could afford it, they were sent to private schools.  Many boys were tutored at home or didn’t receive any education at all.

7.  Girls usually did not receive professional education.  They stayed home to help their mothers with the home.  Sometimes girls would be sent to work as servants in wealthy homes to help with the family’s costs.  Females were considered children until they were married.
