2 ILO : Tripartite Structure  Created in 1919  United Nations specialised agency  180 member states  The only worldwide organization founded on a tripartite structure

3 ILO : Tripartite Structure Three groups form the Executive of the ILO  governments  employers’ representatives  workers’ representatives

4 Mission ILO  Promotion of social justice  internationally recognized human and labour rights  Minimum standards of basic labour rights:  freedom of association  the right to organize  collective bargaining  abolition of forced labour  equality of opportunity and treatment

5 Core ILO Conventions The principles concerning the fundamental rights of the core Conventions are: freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining; the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour; the effective abolition of child labour; the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
