Learnability: Learnability: Children should be able to learn how to pick, drag and drop in less than a minute Affordance: Affordance: A child new to the system should attempt to drag the camera, reset button and trash can no more than 2-3 times Feedback: Feedback: Fewer than 5% of children should click the camera button multiple times due to uncertainties as to what it does and whether or not it worked

Children can’t read Clear/Reset buttons confusing Garbage can function unclear
6
Changes with respect to paper prototype feedback: Removal of Clear button: the one that clears the workspace Replacement of “Reset” text button by a button showing an unused potato Garbage can appears only when picture is taken
7
Strengths: Operations supported by the system are clearly visible Good use of audio feedback Interface is clear, simple, and well organizedWeaknesses: Clear button still not easy to understand Confusing button colors Garbage can function still not clear No help or documentation

10
Resolution of previously detected problems: Potato Helper Clear button Removal of Sample Potato Animation added for trashcan Tutorial feature added Audio error messages added Final Implementation Decision: Use of Java
11
Error prevention measures added and feedback: Shadow when object is picked up An “X” appears when moved to an illegal area In the cave: Gestures have been mapped Selection in X coordinate worked fine
12
Design Techniques: Early focus on user population Iterative design HCI Principles followed: Visibility Visibility Feedback Help and Documentation
