CERN IT Department CH-1211 Genève 23 Switzerland www.cern.ch/i t Internet Services LHCOPN Last Meeting : Madrid, 10-11 March ‘08 http:// indico.cern.ch/conferenceDisplay.py?confId=27585 Guillaume Cessieux has taken over from Mathieu Goutelle as interface between EGEE ENOC and LHCOPN James Casey will report LHCOPN and WLCG operations more generally –Thus this talk ! 2

CERN IT Department CH-1211 Genève 23 Switzerland www.cern.ch/i t Internet Services E2ECU & LCU The E2ECU is an LHCOPN function responsible for running E2E network monitoring within the OPN –operated by DANTE –Finds and reports problems with links The LCU is an LHCOPN function which is responsible for reporting problems and managing a "global" OPN trouble ticket system. –This is in the process of being set up 3

CERN IT Department CH-1211 Genève 23 Switzerland www.cern.ch/i t Internet Services Trouble Ticketing The underlying infrastructures (e.g. Geant) already have their own trouble ticketing system (TTS) It is proposed to use GGUS (but a separate instance) as a global TTS –This is the way to report problems for the OPN –Users of the LHCOPN who are T0/T1's Grid Data managers will contact their local network team who will next create a LHCOPN tickets if we have REALLY a network problem No general user interaction with the LCU 4

CERN IT Department CH-1211 Genève 23 Switzerland www.cern.ch/i t Internet Services Reporting to the grid Reporting of problems/outages/downtimes –Coming from the sites or E2ECU –This includes notification of grid entities This would be done via EGEE broadcasts for the WLCG community –Some concerns raised about scope of broadcasts: “is it useful to warn all Grid users in Canada that a link to Taiwan is down” Work needed on process and procedures for reporting 5

CERN IT Department CH-1211 Genève 23 Switzerland www.cern.ch/i t Internet Services Summary Discussions are still underway Agreement is on a lightweight federated model which fits the current operational practices of the sites LCU will be the main point of interaction between the grid and LHCOPN Next meeting: –CERN, 16-17 th June Straight after the CCRC’08 post-mortem 6
