Aims: To update the 2012 survey – see audience differences/similarities Tap into user feedback/communicate with users Raise awareness about (1) OA (2) Lenus Inform future repository direction – strategic plan Ensure democratisation of repository Report progress in key achievements for 2014

Methods: Best practice? Nobody in Ireland has done a survey of their repository users. Or if they have, they haven’t made it OA or published it! UK Survey of academic attitudes to open access and institutional repositories – a shared RSP and UKCoRR initiative from 2011 - some questions adapted for Lenus survey

Methods: Questions were a mix of those from our 2012 survey and the UKCoRR survey We ran these by a HSE researcher Test run of survey with Lenus Working Group

Results – awareness about OA 2012 450 responses 46% not heard of OA HSE OA statement issued in 2013 2014 1,477 responses 58% not heard of OA 85% not heard of HSE OA Statement In both surveys, Google was the top resource in searching for Irish health research

More than 85% said they used Lenus for carrying out research OR improving patient care (41.34%) Job Done!

Conclusion Mainly positive feedback, however more work to be done on Awareness about OA Awareness about Lenus Demos & Tutorials Wider implications for health research - research culture, time, value in the organisation
