Colours – The colour wheel Primary Colours - These are colours that cannot be created through the mixing of other colours. They are colours in their own right.
3
Secondary colours – The colour wheel Primary colours can be mixed together to produce SECONDARY COLOURS.
4
Complementary Colours An important rule of the colour wheel is that colours opposite to each other on the colour wheel usually work well together as a colour scheme. These are known as COMPLEMENTARY COLOURS.

Messy art doesn’t have to be messy! Boxes – keep things contained! Sponges – stop too much goo! Tape off areas – Your child has to learn where you expect them to be messy. Tidy up together – Make sure your child knows your expectations for tidying.

Five easy steps for talking with children art with children Find real art - You don’t have to go to the “best” museum to make this happen, just find something that captures your child’s imagination. Talk about art in your home or look for a public sculpture in a town square. Be open-minded – Your child will have his or her own ideas about the art, and try not to interject your own ideas of wrong + right into the conversation. Encourage careful looking. Get up close or take a look from a different perspective (up high, the side, far away, walk around it). Ask open-ended questions such as “What do you see?” and exploratory questions such as “Do you have any ideas about how the artist made this?”, “If you could add something to this artwork, what would you like to add?” Look for an opportunity for related art-making.
