The Faith of Demons James 2:19
2
The Faith of Demons Demons (Gr. daimon) are “evil spirits” or “unclean spirits” (“devils” in the KJV is misleading) under the service of the Devil, Satan (Mt. 12:24) Demons have faith (Jas. 2:19) Demons have a dead faith (Jas. 2:14-26); not a living, perfect, saving faith (Gal. 5:6; 1 Thess. 1:3; 2 Thess. 1:11)
3
The Faith of Demons Demons believe in one God and shudder (Mk. 5:7; Acts 16:16-18) Demons are wiser than many today; not atheists (Psa. 14:1); nor polytheists (Ex. 20:3) Why then are demons lost? “They profess that they know God; but by their works they deny him” (Tit. 1:16)
4
The Faith of Demons Demons believe in the deity of Jesus (Mk. 1:24; 3:11; Lk. 4:41; Acts 19:15-16) Demons are wiser than many; Jesus was the Christ, not just a man (Jn. 1:1,14,18; 9:22) Why then are demons lost? “Holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof” (2 Tim. 3:5)
5
The Faith of Demons Demons believe in torment (Mt. 8:29) Demons are wiser than many; hell is not just a curse word (Mt. 10:28; 23:33; 25:41,46; Mk. 9:47-48) Why then are demons lost? “Felix was terrified, and answered, Go thy way for this time…” (Acts 24:25)
6
The Faith of Demons Do you believe God but don’t obey God (Heb. 11:8)? Do you accept a truth about Jesus but not a command from Jesus (Lk. 4:46)? Do you fear torment but not enough to change right now (Heb. 10:31)? Is your faith any better than demons?
