MATERIALS NEEDED One writing utensil per student One piece of paper or scrap paper per student PRIDE matrix for students to see (included in this powerpoint) Timer or watch to keep track of time

INSTRUCTIONS – PART 1 (5 MINUTES) Students will write down the name of someone who inspires them Can be someone they see every day and are close to, like a family member Can be someone they know like a friend, a classmate, a neighbor Can be a fictional character from a book or TV show or movie Can be a famous person like a movie star or sports figure Students will use the PRIDE matrix to write down three of the letters of pride that the person who inspires them shows For example: my older brother because he is 1) principled 2) does the right thing 3) has integrity GO TO NEXT SLIDE FOR PRIDE MATRIX

INSTRUCTIONS – PART 2 (8 MINUTES) Students will work with a partner Each student will have 4 minutes to present the person they wrote down to their partner The partner that is speaking must talk about these things: 1) The person’s name they wrote down 2) How they know that person 3) the three parts of PRIDE the person shows 4) something interesting about that person The partner who is listening will be writing these things down and must present the other partner’s inspirational person After 4 minutes, switch speakers/listeners

PRESENTATIONS – THE REST OF CLASS Each student in class will present their partner’s inspirational person (1-2 minutes per presentation) If there is extra time at the end of class students will talk about ways they can be more like their inspirational role models
