Preamble In our lives there may come a time when a person or people must break political ties which connected them with the British and other nations, we are asking God’s permission while respecting the opinions of man, to declare our causes that convinced us to separate.

Natural Rights Pt. 1 We hold these truths to be easy to understand, that everyone is treated equal; that they are provided with some rights; that will lead to life liberty and happiness. That,to keep these rights governments are established among the men, receiving their rights from the government. Whenever any form of government is unreliable it is right for any people to take action, and to create a new government, making it reliable for our safety and happiness.A carefully established government will make the land peaceful.Past experiences has left us with the knowledge of what and what not to do.

Natural Rights Pt. 2 Leaders should be wise and considerate to the citizens inside his/her country, and if such leader disobeys the laws of freedom of speech; citizens have every right to over throw and take over their country, and choose new leaders, for their protection and rights. We do not want what happened before to repeat itself; such as the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party.

British Wrongs 1-8 The King has refused to approve the laws that will help and be necessary for the public good The King has forbidden our government to pass laws that we need now and are important unless he gives his permission The King has refused to pass laws that will help large amounts of people unless the people gave up their right to be represented an action only performed by tyrants The King has called government together in weird, uncomfortable places to fatigue in to agreeing with him

British Wrongs 1-8 6. The King refused to allow colonists to be elected to colonial legislatures 7. The King has tried to stop the colony’s population from growing; Blocked from becoming citizens and from moving to colonies 8. The King has blocked justice from being done (trials moved to Britain)

British Wrongs 9-20 He had set up a large number of new offices and sent huge crowds of officers to cause trouble for our people and take away their goods. He has stayed with us in time of peace, standing armies without our approval He had tried to make the military above the citizen’s power He has joined with others to force us to obey his authority, not agreeing to our constitution

British Wrongs 9-20 For having large numbers of armed troops with us For not punishing them in a trial in America, sending them to Britain Blocking America’s trade with all other parts of the world For forcing taxes on us without our approval For taking away our power to vote in the colonies Deleting English laws and creating unjust rule in nearby Quebec For taking away our boats and stopping our laws and changing the powers of our government.

British Wrongs 21-28 21. The King took away our laws and power in local governments 22. The King suspended our lawmaking bodies, replacing them with his own powers to make laws 23. The King has given up on by saying we are out of his protection 24. The King has robbed our seas, attacked our towns, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people 25. The King transported large armies of hired soldiers to complete the works of death, misery and tyranny

British Wrongs 21-28 26. He has excited internal revolts among us by attempting to use Native Americans to wage was on us 27. We have asked for relief from this harsh rule, our petitions have been met with repeated rejection.

Independence Therefore the representatives of U.S.A. in the general Congress that has assembled, appealing to God for the right of our intentions, seriously declare that the united colonies should be free to be independent states in which they are no longer loyal to the king and all political connection has been broken; We are now able to declare war, start peace agreements, and do all other acts of an independent nation.
