In this stage you identify the main subject area. You may complete a graphic organizer to sort out the order of your writing, how many paragraphs you will have, as well as the information to be included in each paragraph. For instance the introduction, body and closing of the writing.

SPEECH PREWRITING Finding ideas Some writers simply begin to write, jotting down anything that comes to mind on any subject. This is called Free writing. For some people this process unlock ideas. SPEECH Prewriting Outlining Most of the activities associated with prewriting are for the benefit of the writer. They help the writer collect his or her thoughts and focus them on the main idea. As a writer moves towards writing the first draft, te audience becomes an important consideration

Moving from Pre-Writing to Writing Brainstorming methods Webbing: provides structure for ideas and facts Definition of a Web A web is a visual map that shows how different categories of information relate to one another. Webs are typically used by students, teachers and professionals as brainstorming strategies for developing and connecting ideas.

Graphic Organizers A graphic organizer is a visual display that demonstrates relationships between facts, concepts or ideas. A graphic organizer guides the learner’s thinking as they fill in and build upon a visual map or diagram. They are also informally used as a term to describe all visual learning strategies such as concept mapping, webbing, mind mapping, and more.
