Climate change is a complex problem, which although environmental in nature has consequences for all the spheres of existence to our planet. Global issues such as poverty, economic development, population growth, sustainable development and resource management are either impacted on or impacted by climate change. As a result solutions come from all disciplines and fields of research and development. On the other hand, food sovereignty is the right of people to healthy and culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound and sustainable methods and their right to define their own food and agriculture systems. It puts those who produce, distribute and consume food at the heart of food systems and policies rather than demands of markets and corporations. It is from the above visions that the two organizations have partnered through a exchange project that works to equip youth in Norway and Zambia with relevant information on global issues. The exchange project looks at climate change and food sovereignty as a North/South issue and is taking place in two countries one in the North (Norway) and one in the South (Zambia). The relevance of this project can not go without mentioning as it brings out issues that relate to human survival and development, also threatening the existence of humans and other living organisms. About us Climate Change and Food Sovereignty Organic Farming Recycling and Organic Farming SPIRE & YEN Spire is a Norwegian based Youth Organisation with the vision of changing the social structures that sustain an unfair distribution and unsustainable management of economic, social and cultural rights and resources supporting grass root initiatives in developing countries, educational work, knowledge exchange and political lobbying on national and international arenas. The Youth Environment Network (YEN) is a Zambian based youth NGO that envisions a green, clean and healthy community for youth, women and children to thrive in and be able to make a positive contribution for the betterment of the environment and the generations to come The Exchange We in the present days, a lot of communities and nations losing their food sovereignty. This has been due to both changing weather patterns and the take over of agriculture by corporate monopolies and rich countries. Climate change though has impacted our ecosystems so much, later affecting our sovereignty over food production. We have also seen desertification decreasing the amount of arable land. The process of separating, collecting and converting used or waste products into new materials is Recycling. It is one of the major ways of saving the earth, products made from raw materials that come from our natural resources should be recycled to preserve the environment. It also plays a handful role as a way of helping mitigating global warming and pollution, by saving energy in industrial production through recycling, the green house gas emissions from factories and industrial plants are lessened and use of fuels that emit harmful gases during production is also minimized. Recycling Organic agriculture is a holistic production management system which promotes and enhances agro- ecosystem health, Including biodiversity, biological cycles, and soil biological activity. Organically grown products are free from harmful chemicals, artificial flavors and preservatives that ultimately cost consumers money when they purchase non-organically grown products.
