1
I am the start You are the process used to get air into the body I am breathing You are the cavities used to get air into the body I am the mouth and nose You are the ‘wind pipe’ I am the trachea You are the tubes which feed the air into each lung I am the bronchi You are the process of oxygen passing into the blood and CO2 being removed I am gaseous exchange You are where this process occurs in the body I am the alveoli You are the large muscle used to draw air into the body I am the diaphragm You are respiration which occurs in the presence of Oxygen I am Aerobic respiration You are the equation for aerobic respiration I am glucose +O2 = energy + CO2 + H2O You are an activity which is aerobic I am a continuous activity like the marathon You are what increases up to 3 times what it is at rest when we exercise I am breathing rate You are the level of pressure in the chest cavity as the diaphragm contracts
2
I am low pressure You are the muscles in between the ribs which raise the ribs and push out the sternum when we breathe in I am the intercostal muscles You are the reason that respiration needs to happen in the body I am to make energy You are how the body makes energy in the absence of O2 I am anaerobic respiration You are the equation for this process I am glucose = energy + lactic acid You are the main form of glucose stored in the body I am glycogen You are the process used by the body to ‘repay’ the O2 ‘borrowed’ when working anaerobically I am the oxygen debt You are the poisonous waste product produced as a result of working anaerobically I am lactic acid You are what happens to the body during the recovery period I am perspiration (sweating), expiration (breathing out) and excretion You are an anaerobic activity
3
I am short bursts of activity e.g 100m sprint You are the food which is a good source of energy I am Carbohydrates You are an example of simple carbohydrates I am sugars You are an example of complex carbohydrates I am starches such as pasta, potatoes and bread. This is the end
