1
Analysis of 10 years of Ceres Ebaf data S. Dewitte
2
Introduction Goal: Analyse long term series of earth radiation data Check if climate change can be detected Used data: Ceres EBAF March 2000 – February 2009: 10 years
3
Refelcted solar radiation
4
Emitted thermal radiation
5
Total outgoing radiation
6
Net incoming radiation
7
OLR
8
Change OLR: last 5 years – first 5 years
9
Yearly animation OLR
10
El Nino / La Nina years
11
Variation OLR: La Nina years – El Nino years
12
Long term variation ENSO strength
13
Conclusions Main mode of interannual variation OLR: El nino/ La nina oscillation, coupled global variation Change over last 10 years shows spatial pattern similar to La nina strengthening Consistent with average strengthening of La Nina over last 10 years This can not be taken as a sign of climate change, because strong La Nina's have already occured before 1980.
