2. China in General China is located in Asia. China has the biggest population with 1.3 billion people. China has the largest standing army in the world. China’s capital is Beijing. The unification of China was in 221 BC. China has launched a successful manned space mission.

3. China Flag The China flag is red with five yellow stars. The red and the stars on the flag mean that China is a communist country.

4. Chinese Politics China is a communist country. Hu Jintao is the President of China. China has heavy restrictions on the Internet, the press, freedom of assembly, reproductive rights and freedom of religion. China has a constitution.

5. Chinese Language Chinese speak Mandarin Chinese. They also speak Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, and Zhuang. The written language is Vernacular Chinese.

7. Chinese Food There are four main food regions in China. Cantonese, Hunan, Sichuan and Zhejiang Staple foods include rice, noodles and wheat.

Christianity and Islam aren’t as popular in China because of the government restrictions on the religions. Hinduism, Dongbaism and Bon are also minority religions. The Falun Gong religion is banned in China, but followers still practice it.

11. Chinese Music Opera is has been very popular in China. Most traditional instruments in China are stringed, woodwinds and percussion instruments.
