GCSE Media Studies: Music Industry Practical Production We are learning to: Refine our desktop publishing skills. Produce a piece of realised production, using information from our analysis to help us. Evaluate our production work to justify design choices and audience appeal.

BRIEF FOR THE COURSEWORK: Your band/artiste are currently recording their debut album. Your role is to produce the promotional poster.

Band Fact file: What do you need to consider? Genre: what kind of music is it? Who is in the band/Who is the artiste? Names, ages, personalities? Who are your intended audience? – Create an audience profile. How should the band be represented to them? – Image (positive or negative). What codes and conventions you could use to make sure that your design appeals to your audience? Try some out and record them on your sheets. – Colour, font, image, title, layout. You have 30 minutes

Feedback Whose is the band that rocks? Whose is the singer that wails? Whose is the artist with the ‘pop factor’? Which group would sell to the girlie groupies?
