Next Steps by RVCA (cont’d) Prepare & distribute updated background information on: –existing flood risks –alternative approaches to flood risk management –remedial flood control works under consideration –environmental assessment requirements –estimated costs and benefits –operation and maintenance responsibilities and associated easement requirements –land use and development restrictions (now and after project implementation)

Next Steps by RVCA (cont’d) Refine preliminary design, in consultation with affected landowners Negotiate terms of easement agreements with directly affected private landowners (April, 2011) Negotiate terms of easement agreement with MNR (Crown Land) (May 2011) Report on status to CLC and City

Next Steps by RVCA (cont’d) Publish “Project Plan” per Class EA procedures Finalize design (dwgs and specs) Call tenders and award contract (if within budget) Construct the works Prepare R-Plan of easement limits Execute and register easement documents

Suggested motion: that staff be directed to proceed with the planning and design process for the Britannia Village Flood Control Project, following the “next steps” as set out in the staff presentation dated December 16, 2010
