THE CELL THEORY All living things are made up of at least one cell. A cell is the basic structural and functional unit of all living things. Some organisms consist of one cell (bacteria) and others trillions of cells (humans). The Cell Theory states the following: 1. All living things are made of one or more cells. 2. The cell is the basic unit of life. 3. All cells come from pre-existing cells.
