Hermes was the Greek God of commerce He was the son of Zeus, God of the sky and Maia, daughter of Atlas He was the protector of travelers, thieves, athletes etc. Zeus, Maia and Hermes

With his ability to move quickly between the world of man and the world of Gods, he was the messenger of the Gods Hermes was the guide of the souls to the Underworld

The caduceus symbolized Hermes and health It was given to Hermes by Apollo and was originally a golden rod with two wings on the top One day, Hermes separated two snakes that were in a fight using the caduceus The snakes wrapped around the caduceus and suddenly stopped fighting and looked at each other peacefully Hermes is well known for the caduceus

Hermes was born in a cave on a mountain in Arcadia The name Hermes comes from the Greek word ἑ ρμ ῆ ς herma Hermes is called “Mercury” in Rome He was known for many love affairs with mortals, goddesses and nymphs He had 23 mates and 36 children He didn’t have any full siblings but he had many half siblings He wore a winged hat and winged sandals
