Big Picture: Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world. Most Haitians live on less than $1.25 a day [1].
Zoom in: Reusable glass bottles were replaced by plastic, as a result bottles litter the streets and waters of Haiti due to poor waste management.
Gap: Organizations like Ramase Lajan and Thread have implemented bottle waste collections in Haiti but rely on shipping the bottles out of the country.
Goal: Reduce waste by using locally collected plastic bottles to create revenue or value for the Haitian community.

Initially tasked with finding a way to upcycle/recycle rejected items from Goodwill
Benchmarked upcycling/reuse efforts against RIT SEAL
Conducted stakeholder interviews with Joe Kells from Goodwill-ABVI and Jo from Goodwill
The project was determined to be more suitable for a business team and was abandoned
