2 RIDE Certification Structure (1) Certificate of Eligibility for Employment (CEE) A three (3) year certificate issued to individuals who have satisfied all requirements for certification, but who have not secured regular employment in a public school. $50.00 fee Can be renewed if full-time employment is not secured within 3 years. (2) Professional Certificate A certificate issued to an individual who holds regular employment in the schools of Rhode Island. Valid for five (5) years. August 20092

4 4 a) If you are using a Certificate of Eligibility for Employment (CEE) NOW YOU ARE READY TO DEVELOP AN I-PLAN !! You must apply for your professional (5 year) certificate. Submit to RIDE Completed Application Form Verification of Employment (Available from Human Resources/Personnel in your district) Your CEE Application Fees ($200 for one certification area)

5 August 20095 What is an Individual Professional Development Plan (I-Plan)? I-Plan is a goals-driven professional development plan for recertification that is: – Informed by self-study – Grounded in professional standards – Supported by professional development activities chosen by the educator

6 August 20096 How is the I-Plan Implemented? 1. Submit an I-Plan for approval. 2. Participate in and document completed professional development activities related to your I-Plan goals. 3. Complete professional development verification forms upon completion of PD activities. 4. Submit final verification forms of professional development activities and do a professional analysis at the end of the 5-year cycle.

7 August 20097 The RICERT System The I-Plan process is done (almost entirely) online! To access the site, you need to use the Logon ID and Password that RIDE will send you when you obtain your certificate.

9 9 What are the qualifying Professional Development Categories? 1. College and University Coursework 2. Conferences/Workshops & Training Sessions 3. Collaborative and Partnership Activities 4. Involvement in Development/Improvement Processes. 5. Individually-Guided Professional Development 6. Professional Leadership Experiences

10 Help Is Available !!! August 200910 Many RI school districts have I-Plan trainers that will conduct trainings. You can also contact them with any questions. In-District “Create Your I-Plan Trainings” (open to those who need to create their I-Plan) In-District “Enter Your PD” Workshops (open to all approved I-Planners)
