2 Why Develop Internet Communication? Information to Lions Getting information from Lions Communicating by email Reducing costs and providing more information, faster, newer and in less time.

3 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Privacy Communication Information - Miss-Information Policy Politics Personal Agendas Inclusion and Exclusion But it is not the Internet’s Fault!

4 It Takes All Kinds “Internet Junkies” “Internet Wannabies” “Internet Scaredy-Cats” the Electronically Challenged No, not everyone will have Internet access or email

5 Why should Lions use the Internet? A growing number of Lions are on the Internet E-mail means that you do not wait to get in touch Communication is clear and in writing Communication is TWO WAY Saves time and gets more Lions involved Attracts new and younger members

6 How do we keep in contact with Lions that are not on the Internet? The same way that we did before Telephone Answering machines Get FAX numbers for these Lions FAX the webpages to these members FAX the email WEB TV - the easy way to get on the internet without a computer

7 Get on the Internet Become familiar with the media –Lions Clubs International www.lionsclubs.org –Your District or Multiple District webpage www.yourDistrictLions.org –LionNet International www.lionnet.com

8 Make or Join an Email list If your District has one - join it If your District does not - start one There are many free places on the internet to begin communicating Then help promote it, so everyone is on it

9 Private or Public? Public lists at the District webpage make everyone’s email available to everyone. Private lists protect the privacy of individuals.

10 Leadership related groups District Cabinet group Regions and Zones Multiple District Committees Promote Connecticut, Membership, Permanent Convention Committee, Leadership Development, Policy and Protocol Get more done with less travelling and fewer nights out. Make the existing meeting schedule more productive.

11 Talk about it Discuss it at your club meeting Discuss it at your board meeting Encourage all Lions to join Bring the idea to your zone meeting We Need Every Lion to get interested
