Phrases 1. all night long : the whole night 一整夜 In this pattern we can form another phrases : all day long 一整天 all year long 一整年 eg: The autumn comes so the farmer works all day long. 2. at a high price: 以高价销售 Antonym: at a low price eg: kate sold her old mobile_-phone at a low price.

phrase 3. for miles and miles: 一连好几英里 It is a preposition phrase and it is usually used as a adverbial. Its pattern : preposition + noun The same pattern phrase :for years and years 一 连好几年 eg: yesterday my car was broken, I and my friend walk for miles and miles to find a place to mind it.

Grammar Reading the text and learning the grammar together 1. “this afternoon I was just about to ….” In this sentence there are an important sentence pattern : be about to do something Be about to do something :be going to do something 即将做某事 eg: the train was about to leave when he arrived.

Grammar 2. It be +adjective + to do In this sentence pattern, ‘to do something “ is the real subject, “it “ is the subject in form. It can be changed into “to do something + be + adjective”. Eg: It is very important to study English.” =To study English is very important.

Grammar It is a exclamatory sentence. It usually expressing a kind of strong feeling of the author 3. What a sad sight it was! The sentence pattern :What + a /an + adjective +noun.+ 主语+谓语 Eg: what an interesting book he read! I t has an equal pattern. How interesting the book he read ! So we can see: When we use “how”,the sentence pattern is :How.+ adjective +a /an +noun.+ 主语+谓语
