doc.: IEEE 802.11-14/1392r5 Submission History on Box-5 Calibration We have discussed Box-5 calibration from September meeting –Many issues have been agreed and addressed in DCN 1523r5 However, we still found big performance difference among members in January meeting –We found that CCA threshold in PHY parameter table wasn’t clear and then CCA thresholds of each member could be different –Performance metric (throughput) is not enough to calibrate among members We have to clarify CCA threshold and define additional performance metric to move forward Suhwook Kim, LG ElectronicsSlide 8 March 2015

doc.: IEEE 802.11-14/1392r5 Submission Proposed parameter We proposed CCA level for following current IEEE 802.11 spec. –CCA-SD: -76 dBm for 80 MHz (-82 dBm for 20 MHz) –CCA-ED: -56 dBm for 80 MHz (-62 dBm for 20 MHz) –RX sensitivity: -76 dBm for 80 MHz Suhwook Kim, LG ElectronicsSlide 9 March 2015

doc.: IEEE 802.11-14/1392r5 Submission Proposing metrics PER of all AP/STA –Definition 1 – number of success subframes / number of transmitted subframes –It’s useful to analyze detail operation of each channel Even though two STAs have same throughput, they may have very different PER Collision probability of all AP/STA –Definition 1 – number of received ACK frames / number of transmitted data frame –That equation includes three probabilities Preamble is failed by channel error → relatively low Preamble is failed by collision → major part Preamble is success but all subframes are failed → very low –It’s useful to analyze collision event Suhwook Kim, LG ElectronicsSlide 10 March 2015
