8 Slave labor – European enslaved Africans for 4 reasons: 1. Africans were immune to most European diseases. 2. Africans had no friends or family in the Americas. to help them resist or escape. 3. Provided a permanent source of cheap labor. 4. Many had worked on farms in Africa. Middle Passage – the voyage of the slave ships from Africa to the Americas. The middle leg of the triangular trade between Europe, Africa, and the Americas. About 2 million Africans lost their lives during the Middle passage

9 Racism – slavery led to the belief that some people are inferior because of their race. List the major effects of the Columbian Exchange: On the Americas: 1.Arrival of diseases killed millions of natives 2.Arrival of European livestock – cattle, pigs, & horses 3.Arrival of European crops – grapes, onions, & wheat On Europe: 1.American crops – potatoes & corn 2.allowed for European population to greatly increase
