What Happens in Chapter 2?  Old Major dies (35)  Napoleon, Snowball, and Squealer are introduced (35)  Have secret meetings w/ Old Major’s teachings called: Animalism (35)  Moses is a distraction (36)  Boxer and Clover are the best listeners (37)  Jones is drunk and doesn’t feed the animals (38)  Animals break in to get food (38)  Animals kick out Mr. Jones and name the farm: Animal Farm (39)  Napoleon and Snowball learn to read and write -> 7 commandments (42-43)  Cows need milking desperately (43)  Milk has disappeared (44)

3. What Happens in Chapter 3?  Animals spend a laborious summer harvesting (45)  Pigs think of clever ways to use tools (45)  Boxer adopts a personal motto of: “I will work harder” (47)  Every Sunday the animals raise the flag (48)  Snowball establishes a number of committees (49)  Animals reduce the commandments into one phrase (50) -> “Four legs good, two legs bad.”  Dogs give birth, Napoleon takes them into his own care (51)  Other animals discover where the milk and apples have gone -> pigs mash (51) “brain food”  Squealer sweet talks the other animals about the milk and apples (52) “we need it!”
