Good morning! BELL Work (5 min.) 1.Set up today’s pages 22-23 2.Answer the questions below under the IN: 1. Why is it so difficult to make a model of the Rock Cycle? 2. What do you think would be a good way to model the rock cycle?
2
Describe the basic processes that form Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic Rock. Create a model of the rock cycle. Level 4 Compare and contrast sub-surface and surface events related to the creation of rock types. Level 3 Clearly explain how all three types of rock are formed and identify the patterns within the rock cycle and relate them to surface events (weathering and erosion) and sub- surface events (plate tectonics and mountain building) Level 2 State the three categories of rocks and the basics of how they form. Level 1 With help, I can name the three types of rock.
3
It can be classified as Igneous because Igneous is rock that is formed from cooling magma or lava. Weathering and erosion can pick up fossils which means that they can end up in sedimentary rocks. When rocks are buried deep underground, they are under a lot of heat and pressure. This causes them to change. Page 21

Rock Cycle Lab Safety First!!! Be very careful with hot plate, and plastic knife!!! Follow the instructions on the sheet and answer all the lettered questions (1-10) in the THROUGH on p. 23. It might take more than 1 page.
5
Answer the question below. Explain how this model helped you better understand the processes in the Rock Cycle. **HW reminder – p. 303 is due tomorrow at the beginning of class.** QUIZ is tomorrow!!!!
