HISTORY 1982 Cheerleading on ESPN Introduced cheerleading to the world 1987 American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators Teach and safety test coaches 1990’s Cheerleading grew around the world Teams not connected to schools formed

IS IT A SPORT? Meets the requirements of a sport There is competition Rules and regulations Physical activity that propels a mass towards another mass High rate of catastrophic injuries and concussions

LEVELS Six levels and two sub levels Level one Backwalkovers, cartwheels, and forward rolls, roundoff Level two Backhandsprings, backwalkovers, roundoff backhandsprings Level three Standing backhandspring sequence, roundoff backhandspring tuck, jumps to backhandsprings Level four Standing tuck, two backhandsprings to layout, roundoff backhandspring layouts, jumps to backhandspring tuck Level five Restricted Unrestricted Level 6 adults continue cheerleading after the age limit of 18 College
