Response to Aggression Isolationism: Many in the United States believed they should avoid all alliances with and aid to European nations to avoid war. Appeasement: European nations allowed Germany and Japan to gain territory in hopes of avoiding a war. Lend Lease: This program provided weapons to Great Britain, while keeping the United States out of the War.

Theatres Atlantic Theatre: The refers to the battles and military action against Germany and Italy in Europe and North Africa. Pacific Theatre: This refers to the battles and military action against Japan in Asia. Island Hopping: This refers to the strategy of selectively capturing islands that get closer to Japan.

Midway Where : Midway Island in the Pacific Ocean. Outcome: The United States sunk 4 Japanese aircraft carriers and prevented an invasion of Midway Island.
