Britain Needs Money $$$$ Main Idea : The British government spent a lot of money on the French and Indian War and needed more. Tax : money that people pay to their government in return for services. Conflict over Taxes Boycott : a group of people refuse to buy, sell, or use certain goods Repeal : to cancel a law Britain repealed the Stamp Act but created new taxes: The Townshend Act ! (Why? Needed money to pay for services of governors and soldiers)

Conflict over Taxes Daughters of Liberty: women who protested the Townshend Acts by weaving their own cloth so they would not have to buy cloth from Britain
