Electrical Energy By: Erin Dubs & Mike Duley

Overview Energy is the ability to do work. Energy is divided into 2 different groups –Kinetic: the energy of motion. –Potential: energy stored as a result of position or shape. There are also different forms of energy including: –Mechanical –Chemical –Electrical –Electromagnetic –Nuclear –Thermal

Electrical Energy Electrical Energy- The energy associated with electrical charges Electrical Charges can exert forces that do work. This energy however is neither non- renewable nor renewable.

Explanation Electrical Energy is put together by different forms of energy. This type of energy is a huge asset to nature and is the most commonly used energy.

Fact Benjamin Franklin was the first person ever to detect the so called Electrical Energy. He was standing outdoors with a kite, on the string a key was attached. When the lightening struck it hit the key producing Electrical Energy.

Sources Coal Natural Gas Petroleum Geothermal Hydropower Nuclear Power Biomass Wind Sunlight

Examples of Electrical Energy Electricity transfers energy from power stations to your house. When this happens it is used to make objects work inside your house. The following pages are different examples of household or outdoor uses of electrical energy.

Examples Light bulbs of any shape or form Toasters use electrical energy to warm or burn items inside it.

Examples Hairdryer is used mostly everyday by women in order for their hair to dry. Solar Panels convert solar energy to electric energy.

Examples Blenders use energy to mix the substances in the mixer. Phone lines produce ways to communicate through energy.

Examples Ovens and microwaves use electrical currents to heat up frozen foods

Examples Pencil Sharpeners use electrical power to lessen the value of a pencil. Air conditioners produce cool air on the hot days by electricity.

Examples of Conversion Thermal blankets transfer electrical energy to thermal energy.

Continued Motors are a different kind of conversion of energy. They start out using electrical energy and end up doing mechanical energy.

The End.
