A formal system of naming species of living things by giving each a name composed of two parts based on Latin names. The formal introduction of this system of naming species is credited to Swedish natural scientist Carl Linnaeus who started this work In 1753.Carl Linnaeus By tradition, the binomial names of species are usually typeset in italics; for example, Homo sapiens. The binomial should be printed in a font or print different from that used in the normal text. When handwritten, each part of a binomial name should be underlined; for example, Homo sapiens.
