1 SciencePlanner2/2/16 Target:be able to explain scientific names. WU:In your table groups come up with seven (7) questions which will sort us into groups. Your goal is to end up with just a few students left after all seven questions have been asked. Rules: 1.No question can eliminate everyone. (Aim for general questions early, more specific later) 2.No mean or malicious questions. 3.Must have two questions that deal with traits. 4.Trait must be directly observable.

3 Binomial Nomenclature Rules 1.All genus names begin with a capital letter. 2.All specific (species) names are in lower case. 3.Both words italicized or underlined. Examples: Wolf – Canis lupus Moose – Alces alces Oak Tree – Quercus alba House Cat – Felis domesticus

4 Vocabulary2/2/16 Classification – the division of organisms into groups, or classes, based on specific characteristics. Taxonomy – the science of describing, naming, and classifying organisms. Dichotomous Key – consists of answers to a series of questions that lead to a conclusion.
