Ivy Tech : Dual credit Program “Reach for your ultimate potential!” By: The Hoosier Kinship team Joshua Sadowski, Robert Plecher, Brittany Bowers, and Tyler Bristoe “Opportunity is calling!”
2
Mission Ivy Tech’s mission is to provide Bloomington High School students an opportunity to start college early. We do this through providing state and nationally qualified classes to students, tuition free. This can be accomplished through our dual credit program and partnership with the schools.
3
Vision “Providing pathways to success” Students in the area will be offered a pathway to college success, through the Ivy Tech Dual Credit Program. This program will allow high school students with the opportunity to earn credit for college and high school, at the same time, through their school.
4
Purpose We are providing this opportunity to students for a number of reasons: To satisfy the requirements for the Academic Honors and/ or Technical Honors diplomas To enrich the high school curriculum To introduce high school students to the rigors of college credit courses To assess students’ readiness for college To help students make the transition from high school to college To reduce the cost of a college education To help students graduate from college as soon as possible To provide high school teachers opportunities to enhance their instructional skills To satisfy the state requirement that high schools offer dual credit courses To provide access to the educational resources of Ivy Tech Community College
5
Our Advertising Campaign: For our project we designed a unique logo and slogan: “Reach for your ultimate potential!”
6
Dual Credit Program : What is it? Dual credit is a program designed to let typical high school juniors and seniors earn college credit in a typical class room setting. When successful completion happens students are awarded both high school and college credits, students can earn up to 15 college credits, depending on how many classes are actually offered by the school.
7
Advantage's This offers a unique opportunity to self driven students who want to prepare for college or get a early start into college. There is no tuition for these courses. These classes are taught by high school teachers in the student’s schools. Shortening the time for a college degree completion.
8
How to register: This is a fairly easy process that involves you to do the following: Students obtaining the required PSAT/COMPASS/SAT/ACT score(s) Students successfully completing dual credit courses in the required sequence (if a sequence is indicated); and/or successfully completing other required dual credit courses prior to registration for the current dual credit course.
9
Taking a High school based course Upon completion of this course, students will be awarded school and Ivy Tech community college credit. Students are expected to treat this course as a college course. If you earn a "C" in this Ivy Tech course, then it is likely that your credits may be transferable to other colleges or universities.
