Culture Basics First of all, consider the fact that culture is not universal. The norms of one culture may be the taboos of another. For this reason, culture and the aspects of culture are one of the things that make one region distinct from another.

Culture Basics Culture is a little hard to define, but let’s say it’s the collective way of living for a people. Culture combines material expressions (artifacts… like food and clothing), mental expressions (mentifacts… like religions and values), and social expressions (sociofacts… like government systems). This chapter will focus on aspects of material culture (artifacts)… the food, clothing, shelter and possessions side of a people.
