Defend the person who is getting bullied Try to calm the bully down Go get an adult Can you be a bystander for cyber bullying? What can you do? When you see something and don’t do anything about it, you are part of the problem not the solution

Myth: Bullies have low self esteem which is why they pick on other people Fact: Some studies have shown that many bullied actually have high self esteem. But they want to feel even more powerful and in control Myth: Only Boys are bullies Fact: Girls bully too. Myth: Getting bullied is normal for growing up? Fact: That is just and excuse for bad behavior, plus it helps create a code of silence about bullying.

Myth: Best way to handle a bully back is to get even or fight back Fact: Sometimes bullying is a life or death threat situation. If you try to get even with a bully things will only get worse. Bullies who feel cornered are more likely to come after you again. Myth: If you ignore bullies they will go away Fact: Some bullies may get more and more angry when you ignore them. Talk to someone about it.

Treat everyone with respect and kindness - Refuse to bully others and refuse to let others be bullied. Encourage other bystanders to help stop the bullying incident by being assertive. Make friends with someone who continually gets picked on. Report it or send someone to a trusted adult. You are key to stopping bullying.

Refuse to watch, laugh, or join in when someone is Bullied. Say, “That’s not funny!” “How would you like it if someone did that to you?” “That’s not showing good character.” “Please stop, I don’t like that.”

Does it make you feel better to hurt other people or take their things? Are you bigger and stronger than other people your age? Do you sometimes use your size and strength to get your way? Have you been bullied by someone in the past and feel like you have to make up for doing the same thing to others? Do you avoid thinking about how other people might feel if you say or do hurtful things to them?
