Lesson 17: The Books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon Scriptures in quotation marks are taken from the KING JAMES VERSION of the Bible.

Wisdom (Proverbs 3:13-15) – It is more valuable than silver and gold, and “happy is the man” that finds it. Gossip (Proverbs 11:13) – Can’t be trusted with a secret

Lying (Proverbs 12:22) – An “abomination” (disgusting) to the Lord Drinking (23:29-32) – At the last it bites “like a serpent” (large snake) and stings “like an adder” (scorpion).

Meddling (Proverbs 26:17) – It is like taking “a dog by the ears.” Boasting (Proverbs 27:2) – “Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.” Flattery (Proverbs 28:23 & 29:5) – Beware, they are setting a trap.

Ecclesiastes 1:13a – Wisdom or knowledge Ecclesiastes 1:18 – Much grief and increased sorrow

Ecclesiastes 2:1-3 – He sought pleasure, entertainment, wine, etc. Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 – It was all “vanity” (empty or vain) and didn’t profit anything.

Ecclesiastes 12:7 – “Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.” Ecclesiastes 12:13b – “Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
