2 Pivot Tables  SAVE THE ORIGINAL!!!  And oh, SAVE THE ORIGINAL!!! Step One: Save

3 Pivot Tables  What do you want to see from the data? Have a plan! Step Two: Plan

4 Pivot Tables  Save it with a different name than the original  Ensure you have column headers  Look through the data for potential problems/blanks/typos Step Three: Preparing the data

5 Pivot Tables  Place cursor anywhere inside the data  Click on the “Insert” tab Step Three: Preparing the data, cont’d.

6 Pivot Tables  Excel will highlight your data and insert the likely range  Click OK and your table will appear on a new worksheet Step Four: Providing the data range

7 This is the default view from newer Excel versions. These arrows point to areas you will want to be acquainted with.

8  Click the “Display” tab

9  Choose “Classic PivotTable layout”. Click OK at bottom.

10 This is the classic view.
