Only when the main clause demonstrates a future action or state of being, and/or an expected or pending occurance Examples: Vamos a cenar cuando mi abuelo llegue. We get dinner when my grandfather comes home. Llame a la casa tan pronto como venda el carro. Call the house as soon as the car sells. Jugamos fútbol con ustedes mientras mi padre trabaje. We play soccer with you while my father works.

When the main clause demonstrates a normal, ususal, or habitual occurrence Examples: Siempre cenamos cuando mi abuelo llega del trabajo. We have dinner when my grandfather comes home from work. Cada día mi amigo llama a la casa tan pronto como vende sus vegetales en el mercado. Each day my friend calls the house as soon as he sells vegetables in the market. Generalmente, jugamos fútbol con Juan mientras nuestros padres trabajan en la fábrica. Generally, we play soccer with Juan while our parents work in the factory.
