Motivation FutureGrid is an experimental cloud and grid testbed Most of the offered frameworks and services are based on virtualization technologies or make use of them Image management becomes a key component IaaS frameworks provide their own local image repository specifically designed to interact with that particular framework Generic catalog and repository of images that will be able to interact with other FG subsystems and potentially with other infrastructures Service to generate new images customized for different environments https://portal.futuregrid.org

FG Image Repository I Service to query, store, and update images through a unique and common interface –Can distinguish image types for different purposes (IaaS, HPC…) Maintains data related with the usage to assist performance monitoring and accounting Special features –Users can request images that fulfill their requirements.
