Worst winter 2013? By Harrison Franklin and Kemal Kenton

The backstory: It was a time of disaster in the worst winter ever seen the school of King Edward's was snowed in with no way of getting food, the diesel in the boiler was running thin, no electricity, no way of heating, no way of lighting, no signal for cell phones how would the people on the King Edwards campus survive?

Rationing: In the storm; food will be in short supply. However, the school stocks food that can last us two days, Kes also has dry food that can last up to a week in case of an emergency. We should hand out rationing slips and cut the food down to minimal portions so that the food will last the longest that it can.

The Black-out : L ACKOUTS In the event of a catastrophic storm; a black-out will occur. Electricity all over the school premises will be down. This will leave us without charging facilities, food heating facilities, the use of washing machines, light, central heating etc. the school has a backup power generator that runs on diesel, however our diesel supply is running low.

The Generator KESW

STUFF WE NEED TO KNOW: Stay indoors during the storm. Walk carefully on snowy, icy, walkways. Avoid overexertion when shovelling snow. Overexertion can bring on a heart attack it is a really big cause of death in the winter. If you must shovel snow, stretch before going outside. Keep dry. Change wet clothing frequently to prevent a loss of body heat. Wet clothing loses all of its insulating value and transmits heat rapidly.

FIRE! Once the diesel in the generator has run out we can use fire to heat us, cook food and create light. The school has plenty of tress around and we have the equipment to cut down a tree and create a fire. The thing is the fire will need to be controlled because it could set many flammable things alight.

Burst Water Pipes: If the schools water pipes burst; that will result in a lack of fresh running water from the mains. However we can light small fires all over the school that can melt the snow into water then sterilise and filter it. This will make a fresh supply of water that will give everyone a fresh drink of water.
