Four Major Body Cavities Dorsal cavities: Cranial cavity – in skull, contains brain Spinal cavity – in vertebrae, contains spinal cord Ventral cavities: Thoracic cavity – in ribs, contains heart & lungs Abdominopelvic cavity – below the diaphragm, includes most digestive & reproductive organs
