Caused The Mumps is a disease caused by a virus that usually spreads through saliva and can infect many parts of the body, especially the parotid salivary glands. The mumps are caused by a virus. The virus is spread from person-to-person by respiratory droplets (for example, when you sneeze) or by direct contact with items that have been contaminated with infected saliva.

What mumps does to the body.
The mumps disease swells the salivary glands. ( located near the cheek or jaw line, and below your ears, are most frequently affected.)

Preventions. Mumps is prevented by the Mumps vaccine. However, the Mumps vaccine is not a 100% affective. Suggestions to keep from spreading the mumps are: washing the hands frequently, avoiding contact with people who have the virus.
