KEEPING CASH BENEFITS AND HEALTH BENEFITS ALEX CAPELLA & JOHN LEVANTI Cash Benefits Two types under Social Security Act 1980, Section 1619. SSDI- (Social Security Disability Insurance), temporary assistance for unemployed Americans. Up to $720 per month in 2011. This amount can change based on employment and income. SSI- (Supplemental Security Income), Is designed to help aged, blind, and disabled people, who have little or no income; and. It provides cash to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter. Up to $1,433 per month.

HEALTH BENEFITS SSI- (Supplemental Security Income) Medicaid benefit as opposed to a cash benefit because they have a job with increased earnings and no longer need cash benefits. However, cash benefits can also continue along with Medicaid benefits if their earnings don’t exceed their states “SSI threshold”. The reason for this is to help them maintain their job and pay for the high cost of health insurance.
